ABOUT CCF

CLEAN Cause Foundation is a 501(c)(3) organization formed with the founding purpose to act as a trustee for giveback funds generated by CLEAN Cause, Inc. We envision a world where everyone with a substance use disorder has what they need to support their recovery journey.

OUR MISSION: To bridge the critical gap between addiction and early recovery, by funding recovery housing initiatives that promote best practices, further research, and impact systems change.

THE NEED

Recovery Housing (RH) is an empirically supported service on the continuum of care of substance use. It is an intervention that is specifically designed to address the recovering person’s need for a safe and healthy living environment. RH also supplies necessary recovery and peer supports. Research indicates that individuals who meaningfully engage in RH have higher rates of abstinence from substances, better recovery capital, and higher employment rates. RH plays an important role in supporting individuals in their recovery by building recovery capital and providing stable living environments.

OUR RESPONSE

  • RH Stipend Program - CCF’s founding purpose is to act as a trustee for giveback funds generated by CLEAN Cause Inc. The RH Stipend Program is the core manifestation of the giveback and our primary program, and we have recently reached the goal of supporting over 5,000 people in early recovery to access recovery housing since the program’s inception.

  • RH Sustainability Research - In partnership with Addiction Research Institute at University of Texas at Austin, Steve Hicks School of Social Work, CCF is working to address the financial gap created by insurance coverage ineligibility and structural barriers to recovery. The empirical research will inform new policy initiatives that advocate for recovery housing organizations’ insurance coverage eligibility.

  • Data Program - CCF’s data contains a volume of insights about lived experiences with recovery and RH that is distinctive in its scope and breadth. CCF believes that the opportunity to actively process and examine this rich data could lend itself to systemic improvements for the recovery community, pushing CCF towards the vision of a world where everyone with a substance use disorder has what they need to support their recovery journey.

Benefits of recovery residences accrue to both the individual resident and to society.
